UGANDA PROJECT
Located in central Africa, the Republic of Uganda is a country rich in nature located on the shores of Lake Victoria.
Uganda has several refugee camps and grants refugees residence and labor rights. We are active in the Rwamwanja refugee camp in the west. Refugee camps are full of problems such as housing, work, education and infrastructure. We carry out educational support activities locally with the permission of UNHCR.

Put a mask on the Covid-stricken refugee camp
"No one will be left behind" our policy
Rwamwanja refugee camp located in western Uganda. We are conducting educational support activities at this camp with the permission of UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees).
In refugee camps where people displaced by a series of wars and civil wars, not only the educational environment but also the living environment is not sufficient. We have begun lesson activities to build the foundation for education here.
The first thing was a "learning a virus" class for Covid19. As the world is frightened by covid19, refugee camps cannot buy masks for 0.2 US dollars each, forcing them to live vulnerable to viruses. Therefore, I taught what a virus is and conducted a mask project to present 10,000 cloth masks made by 1000 Japanese people.
Transform into a covid19 to teach the virus!
Classes that make you feel the joy of learning
Classes conducted by Nakayoshi Gakuen are forcussing very ordinary themes, such as science around us, the human body that everyone is interested in, and illness. Our activity is to focus on how to teach it in an interesting and easy-to-understand manner.
At the refugee camp in Uganda, we gave a lesson on the theme of "What is a covid19 virus?" Principal Nakamura himself dressed as a covid19 virus and taught how to prevent the virus. The class in which the Japanese who came for the first time suddenly transformed into a virus was a series of surprises, and everyone in the camp was full of smiles.
Through such lessons, we realize each theme of the SDGs, and by giving lessons all over the world, we literally show the "world where no one is left behind".

Teaching "feelings" using masks
Anything can be used as teaching materials
When we launched the Uganda project, a video was sent from a local staff member. There we can see the mother slamming her child on the ground and kicking her off. Principal Nakamura was hurt by this video and decided to work in Uganda. We started thinking about what we could do there.
April 2021. The Nakayoshi Gakuen Project started its activities in Uganda while all international organizations stopped their activities due to the Covid19 disaster. Principal Nakamura conducted a class to teach "feelings" using the "NON STYLE Inoue Mask" used in the collaboration class with Japanese famous TV program, Ame Talk. We enjoyed teaching the morals of being happy when someone says good words to the other person and sad when someone says bad words.
We utilize many "excellent things" in Japan for our lessons. There are many world-class products and technologies in Japan. Not only by using it as a product, but also by transforming it into a lesson that teaches the mechanism as a teaching material, we will sow the seeds of technology in that country. We think this is exactly the "sustainable development" of Nakayoshi Gakuen.
